A few bits:

\"I tried to uninstall Latitude, but could not. The app doesn't show up in your task manager when it's running, nor will you find it in the apps manager. It seemed the only thing I could do with Latitude was turn it on.\"

This is because latitude is part of the maps program. You turn off latitude from inside maps.

\"Google denies it will share your location with a third party. But if it collects a history of your locations, essentially creating a new piece of information - will it share that?\"

Latitude doesn't save past locations by default: https://www.eff.org/.../exclusive-google-takes-stand...

You can turn history logging on if you want to, though, and I did.

\"The argument will be that you've already consented to location-monitoring - so why should a law-abiding citizen be afraid of speed monitoring for the safety of the community?\"

The same EFF article I linked above says google will only reveal this information to police with a court order. This would prevent police from just looking through location logs for evidence of speeding.

\"If you visit Latitude's Web page on your PC, for example, Google will ask you for permission to share your location. If you click 'no,' you get an alert box with only one button - 'go back.' (And get asked for permission again.) No is not an option.\"

The purpose of latitude is to share your location. If you decline, you get a popup saying \"You decided not to share your location. / To begin using Latitude with friends, you\u2019ll need to share your location to get started. Remember, you can always remove friends or hide your location later from the privacy settings. / Go Back\".
