We also use Stripe for season pass purchases, donations, etc. As the registrar for the last couple years, I've had way more problems with check payments than credit card payments. Things have gotten lost in the mail, refunds are a pain if you've deposited the check, it's harder for people to confirm registration and payment, it's more paperwork on our end, etc. We've never had problems with online payment, except for the fact that we lose a few dollars on each registration. I think it's worth it.
