So I feared it might get worse until I can't work anymore as a software developer. I read about people having the same problem and stretching a lot or coding in Emacs using voice control\u2026 Stretching, wrist warmers during programming, socks over my hands during the night to keep my wrists warm and stop them hurting \u2013 no noticeable improvement.<br><br>The book asserts that the brain causes the pain. Not by imagining it \u2013 it's physical pain, not phantom pain. But, and now come the wonky bits, by restricting blood flow to the capillaries in the wrist, which decreases oxygen supply and somehow causes the pain. (Not sure I remember this correctly.) Why would the brain do that? Because there are some psychological issues that it doesn't want to deal with, so it creates a physical distraction.<br><br>I guess the main point that helped me was: There is a vicious cycle of pain causing stress causing more pain causing more stress. By realizing that nothing was inherently wrong with my wrists, the stress went away and so did the pain over a few days.<br><br>Sometimes a little wrist pain comes back, sometimes I have other mild psychosomatic symptoms. When they come up, I just use cognitive therapy (\u2192 Burns: Feeling Good) to reduce my anxiety level and everything is cool.<br><br>I don't know if reading my explanation already helps you.
