You&#39;ve got the time to get it right. My experiences have been with violinists playing with rock acts. They either have their own setup, or they get a Pro35 or a lav from me. \n\n<br><br>I try not to mic the back. I wish I had a picture. If they&#39;re wearing something with a collar I&#39;ll go as high up on it as I can to get the element above the sound board. (This is for the lav) I&#39;ve even gone to a hat before. With an omni element the results aren&#39;t bad. I wouldn&#39;t do it for a solo performance but when the object is to get the instrument to sit in with drums, bass and electric guitars I&#39;ve had good enough luck with it.
