This delay seems to be 2 seconds and up. Since you expect the match to run out in under 10 seconds, it might make sense for you to try to start your donations around 2 seconds before 08:00:00am EST. You should make a lot of test donations to estimate your delay and calibrate your start time though.

I personally would prefer to emphasize things like handling declined credit cards fast, but this is based on my my guess that we'll probably have more than 10 seconds.
