This has its positives and negatives, but I find that on the whole, I like it. Similarly, I don't really have a problem with information about me becoming public because I feel like I don't have much to hide, and if I did, I might alter my behavior in a positive way because I know people could find out about it. The ability to express an unpopular opinion is essential to a free society. Reluctance to voice views because of fear that it will cause trouble at work has a strong chilling effect.
