I'm about to get them re-soled for the first time (arguably I should have done this some years back). They were about $120 new in 1994; I've probably worn them 1/3-1/2 of the time since then, so figure 2000-3000 days. I have no idea what re-soling will cost. But I've clearly done better than $20/year here.", "timestamp": "1304117934"}, {"author": "Reese", "source_link": "https://www.facebook.com/notes/jeff-kaufman/cheap-shoes/10150162756841213/?comment_id=10150162808671213", "anchor": "fb-10150162808671213", "service": "fb", "text": "they're selling some shoes for $15 at the New Balance Outlet store this weekend.. (They have plenty of pricey ones as well, but you can get a good pair for $30-40). You MIGHT be able to convince me that there was something in terms of your feet and health, that makes wearing a $100 pair of shoes worthwhile, but it could be a tough sell. There's NO WAY, though, that it's actually going to save you money. Shoes aren't made to last more than 2 years, at any price point, if you wear them on a daily basis. That's not going to change because you spent 5 times as much on them.", "timestamp": "1304170376"}]}
