A standard sound system today would use powered speakers instead of a powered mixer (amplifiers integrated into each speaker, instead of into the mixer). It would have at least two monitor channels, and you'd be able to control the frequency of the mid-range parametric EQ. The speakers would have far more bass response, by about an octave, and be more realistic in general. The mixer probably has more input channels, maybe 16. It might be an analog board looking pretty similar to the Entertainer but with more knobs, or it might be a tablet-controlled mixer like the XR18 where the physical box is just inputs and outputs and you control everything else over wifi. Everything would be much cheaper.", "timestamp": "1578627754"}, {"author": "Josh", "source_link": "https://www.facebook.com/jefftk/posts/10100131346512372?comment_id=10100131355030302&reply_comment_id=10100131356212932", "anchor": "fb-10100131355030302_10100131356212932", "service": "fb", "text": "→ Cool.", "timestamp": "1578627843"}, {"author": "Jeff Kaufman", "source_link": "https://www.facebook.com/jefftk/posts/10100131346512372?comment_id=10100131355030302&reply_comment_id=10100131356452452", "anchor": "fb-10100131355030302_10100131356452452", "service": "fb", "text": "→ Here's a post with what I thought in 2014: https://www.jefftk.com/p/reference-contra-dance-sound-system

If I were writing it now I'm not sure where I'd come down on the analog board, and there are some newer speaker options, but it's still about right.", "timestamp": "1578628054"}, {"author": "Peter", "source_link": "https://www.facebook.com/jefftk/posts/10100131346512372?comment_id=10100131361821692", "anchor": "fb-10100131361821692", "service": "fb", "text": "I worked with rock bands in the 80\u2019s and monitors were pretty important already.
