I use a sunrise alarm clock for that; I'm very light sensitive so I typically wake up a few minutes into the sunrise but certainly by full sunrise no matter how tired I am.

As an side, regarding wrong clock times: I like having the wrong clocks to remind me that I shouldn't live life by the clock. When I had my own car and was unmarried, the car clock was set randomly. The only time I really looked at the clock in the car was when i was in a hurry, so not being able to tell time in the car is a visual reminder to me to calm down when I felt like I was late. If I was late it's because I didn't leave on time; trying to make the time up while I'm in the car is dangerous. If being late makes a difference in the choices I'm making as a drive, I probably shouldn't be making that choice. When I got married, as a compromise we set the clock +/-5 minutes off the 30 minute difference between EST and EDT.

Other assorted wrong clocks in my life:
Two wrong clocks by my bed: my sunrise is set to be full sun at 5:30 AM EDT, 5:48am clock-time. My normal alarm clock is currently 22 minutes off but I don't remember which direction. I use a normal alarm clock only on days when I have to get up at some awful hour, usually because I have to get to the airport at 4am or something similar. If I need to actually know the time, I'll use my phone or smartwatch.

In my kitchen, the microwave clock is correct for my husband, the stove is set to be precisely 30 minutes off (regardless of daylight savings) as a compromise between me and my husband, and my kitchen timer battery isn't quite good enough so it's an indeterminate period off. It's accurate enough for the short durations I'm using it for a timer that I can appreciate the wandering clock time.

Two watches, no battery for five years.
